They help families with issues such as domestic violence; mental health; substance abuse; financial pressures; building positive family relationships; and helping families to support their child's development. AA can be very a very effective support group for some people. I (Clinton Laurence) think it depends on the specific support group and your support person.  AA is conducted at multiple locations on the Gold Coast but I would begin with contacting the Community Centre, Lawson St, Southport on (07) 5591 2062 and going to their website at www.aa.org.au
